Animal Control will impound any canine found running at large inside the corporate limits of the City of New Boston. Once impounded the animal control officer(s) will make every effort to find the owner of the canine. If the owner is located, the owner will be responsible for paying a redemption fee of $35 and a $15 per day impound fee plus an additional $35 fee if the canine is not registered with the city. If the owner refuses to claim or take ownership of the animal within five days of the animal being impounded, all rights of ownership will be relinquished, the animal shelter will take possession of the animal, and it will become available for adoption for a fee of $35. After all efforts are exhausted, the animal has not been claimed by its owner or adopted, the canine will be humanely euthanized.  There is a $90 canine surrender fee for any canine turned over to the City of New Boston due to owners inability to home their animal.
